Home Sweet Home

Won't be needing this anymore!

Just a little update!  We finally got out of hospital last Friday.  They decided to replace the Y2K compliant monitor with a newer, more sensitive one that could track her oxygen better.  When on both the new and older monitor, the new one was consistently higher.  What a relief!

Daddy stayed up all night the last night she was there to ensure no one applied oxygen unnecessarily.  After an oxygen-free night, Rachel was very, very excited to get out of bed the next morning.  Her little legs were quite wobbly when she took her first steps.  Ten days in bed for a relatively new walker took its toll! This did not stop her, however, from trying to bust a move beside the hospital bed when I played “That’s what makes you beautiful” on my phone while waiting to be discharged.  Dancing in the hospital is a good indication that someone is all better – that and the constant requests for hamburgers and pizza. Sometimes I think we rely too much on the monitors.

heading home....

So covered with sticky residue from her leads and probes she got to escape down the elevator and out of the hospital.  Her poor little arms were just a mess from all the bloodwork and IV attempts.  For the past week, she has been busy showing everyone her “boo-boos”.  Battle scars.

And home has never seemed so sweet.

I’ve got some books, a video and some conference notes to share!  More to follow!

That’s great! Yes, I think she’s back in the swing of things. Pickles is pretty adorable – I’m not sure I could handle feeding him live worms though!
