Indelible

August 10, 2012

I had the opportunity to watch the film Indelible today. Wow! I was just blown away by the beauty, joy, and wisdom that emanate from this short piece.

Indelible features Dr. Surekha Ramachandran, the Chairperson for the Down Syndrome Federation of India and mother to a daughter with Down syndrome. The way she articulates the value of people with Down syndrome is both poetic and profound. The piece also introduces seven people with Down syndrome–a yoga instructor, a poet, a Special Olympics cyclist, and a “star of the family”, among others–all of whom illustrate the message that if you are “open to receiving all different things in life”, you will experience great joy and self-discovery.

According to the Facebook page for Indelible, this film is ”India’s first official film on Down syndrome”.  Indelible will be shown at the World Down Syndrome Congress, which is being held in South Africa from August 15th-17th. A feature-length version of the film will be released in October.

Please watch– you won’t be sorry.
